When lateral fastening enhances transparency, the railing becomes an architectural element in its own right.

Highlights

English-style installation maximizes usable space, offers total transparency and guarantees safety in compliance with the most demanding standards.

Glass balustrades, reliable protection for your building

When it comes to securing residential and professional spaces, glass balustrades are an aesthetic, technical and high-performance solution. Installed on the edge of the slab, this system frees up the entire floor surface and reinforces visual continuity, whether for staircases, terraces, balconies or glazed walkways.

Made-in-glass.com systems - all compliant with French and European standards - ensure perfect harmony between elegance, robustness and safety. With façade installation, the structure almost disappears, leaving room for the purity of glass and natural light.

What is a glass balustrade and what are its advantages?

Unlike a floor-mounted installation, the English method involves fixing the glass panels to the edge of the slab or to a lateral vertical structure. This configuration optimizes space, improves circulation and enhances the overall aesthetics of the building.

Space-saving lateral installation

Side-mounted brackets don't protrude into the traffic area, so you can make full use of the space available. Ideal for narrow terraces, balconies, mezzanines or modern staircases with exposed stringboards.

Maximum transparency and light

Thanks to an almost invisible structure, the view remains completely unobstructed. Rooms are brighter, and architecture is lighter. This is one of the reasons why many architects favor this type of installation in their contemporary projects.

Safety and compliance

Our systems comply with the NF P01-012 standard, guaranteeing mechanical resistance capable of securing all areas at height. These systems are ideal for balconies, mezzanines and terraces where fall protection is imperative.

Robustness of tempered laminated glass

We only use toughened laminated glass 88.4 or 1010.4, which is perfectly suited to side mountings. This glass offers exceptional strength and holds fragments in place in the event of impact, ensuring lasting safety.

Dimensional guidelines for compliant installation

Depending on location, minimum heights are :

- 90 cm for a staircase ;

- 100 cm for a landing or mezzanine;

- 100 cm for a balcony (80 cm possible in certain cases);

- For an upper-storey window with a low sill < 90 cm: a 1 m protective device is mandatory.

The aim of these requirements is to avoid any risk of falling and to ensure full compliance with building regulations.

The different ways of installing a glass balustrade

Made-in-glass.com offers three main families of solutions for installing glass railings. Each can be adapted to specific technical constraints and offers a particular aesthetic appeal.

Surface-mounted mounting plate

A traditional and versatile method, the surface-mounted plate is available in round, square or rectangular models. Screw-on or clamp-on, internal or external, they can be adapted to any configuration. They guarantee solid, aesthetic mounting of 88.4 or 1010.4 glass panels.

The English-style aluminum profile

The discreet, modern aluminum profile holds the glass in place solely by its base. Installed laterally, it offers total transparency with invisible fastenings, perfect for outdoor terraces and contemporary facades.

English-style glass clamp

This rectangular fastener in brushed aluminum or RAL 7016 is installed on the side of a stringboard or facade. It requires precise drilling of the glass, but offers reliable mechanical strength and a modern look.

To complete your installation, you can also fit a handrail: glass handrail.

Heights and dimensions

Regulatory heights vary according to use: 90 cm for staircases, 100 cm for mezzanines, 100 cm for balconies. Panels must be made of toughened laminated glass 88.4 or 1010.4, with a thickness adapted to wind loads and fixing method.

Our technicians systematically carry out precise dimensioning (height, width, type of fastening) to guarantee the conformity and durability of the installation.
